Walton County, Georgia Inmate Search

For residents of Walton County, Georgia, an inmate search provides a convenient way of obtaining information about inmates in custody, including their exact location, case status, and how to contact them. Walton County has only one correctional facility, known as the Walton Detention Facility, where people arrested are typically held. It is operated by the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, which maintains a list of inmates in its custody and provides externally accessible resources for accessing their jail information.

However, if someone in Walton County is convicted of a felony or sentenced to more than one year, they are transferred to a Georgia Department of Corrections facility outside the county. Common nearby state prisons include Pulaski State Prison and Georgia State Prison.

In addition to the county jail, local police departments in populated cities like Monroe and Loganville also maintain separate jail rosters containing information about individuals who have been arrested and are in police lockups.

Mailing and Commissary Information

Individuals may deposit money into an inmate’s account through JailATM. Inmates may use this money to buy snacks, beverages, health and beauty aids once a week from the commissary. An inmate’s expenses in a week must not exceed $150.

Beyond money, individuals can also send non-monetary mail items such as greeting cards, plain photographs, drawings, and personal notes to inmates in the Walton County Jail. All mail should be sent like this:

Inmate’s full name, booking number,

Walton County Detention Facility.

1425 South Madison Avenue.

Monroe, GA 30655

Every piece of mail is first inspected before delivery to the intended recipient. Mail may be rejected if it contains items not permitted by the Walton County Jail policy. These include:

  • Cash (unless sent through the designated means)
  • Polaroid photos or laminated pictures
  • Books and magazines not sent through approved vendors
  • Food or edibles
  • Clothing or unauthorized packages
  • Items that could conceal contraband

When mail is rejected, the rejected mail or contraband is forwarded to the detention commander or his designee to review and justify rejection or seizure. After this, the sender will be electronically notified through JailATM of the rejection.

If the detention is justified on the basis that it contains evidence of a crime, the detention commander will forward the mail to the appropriate authority. In such cases, neither the sender nor the intended recipient will be notified.

The Walton County mail policy exists to prevent abuse of mail privileges and to protect other individuals in incarceration.
